PTA Newsletter #040: ASE Registration Opens Monday
Week of September 14
Hi Northeast families! The big news this week: After School Enrichment registration opens Monday, Sept 14, and PTA members get first pick. Also inside: Film on the Field has a new date, the website has a new Getting to School menu, and a reminder that PTA memberships start fresh every year.
ASE registration opens Monday, Sept 14. PTA members go first.
Fall After School Enrichment has 12 classes for grades K–5, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3 to 4 PM for 7 weeks. Each class has 10 to 16 spots. 2026–27 PTA members register first, so if you haven't rejoined yet, do it before 8:30 AM on Monday.
Classes start Tuesday, Sept 22 and Wednesday, Sept 23. There are no processing fees this year, and refunds aren't available once you register. For scholarships, ask the school counselor at dkupperman@montclairps.org.
Can you help on Tuesdays? Your child gets a free class.
Thank you to everyone who signed up: Wednesdays are fully staffed. We still need volunteers to help supervise ASE on Tuesdays, 2:30 to 4 PM, for 7 weeks starting Sept 22. Volunteers' children can take one ASE class for free.
Email Leslie to volunteer on Tuesdays → Include your child's name and grade, and whether you can do all 7 weeks.
What's coming up
View full calendar →Film on the Field moves to Friday, October 16.
Our fall movie night on the Northeast field is now Friday, October 16, two weeks later than the Oct 2 date in last week's newsletter. If it rains, the rain date is Friday, October 23. Time to be announced; bring blankets and chairs. We'll post the time on the PTA calendar once it's set.
Drop-off help, all in one place: Getting to School.
The website menu has a new Getting to School section with two pages for your morning and afternoon trips.
Should I leave earlier today?
The traffic page checks the main streets around Northeast, plus road closures and weather, and gives you a plain answer: normal, a little slower, or delays. It updates every few minutes during the morning and afternoon windows. It watches roads only, so it can't see where a bus is, but slow roads usually mean a slower bus too.
How the morning car line works
Northeast's drop-off steps, in the order you meet them: queue in the right lane on Grove Street heading north, turn right into the front drive, pull all the way up, let kids out on the sidewalk side while adults stay in the car, and turn right only when you leave. Never turn into the teacher lot, and leave a gap at every driveway.

Were you a member last year? Please sign up again.
PTA memberships reset every school year, so last year's membership doesn't carry over. Joining for 2026–27 takes about two minutes, and individual membership is $20.
Fifth Grade Car Wash, Saturday, September 26.
Our 5th graders are rolling up their sleeves. Pull up to the front of Northeast between 9 AM and 12 PM, get the car sparkling, and grab your mums while you're there.
Three things worth bookmarking.
Got news? Put it in the newsletter.
Class events, volunteer needs, club news, community resources: if Northeast families should know about it, we want to run it. There's one form for all of it.
Open the submission form → Questions? Email NortheastPTA@northeastpta.org.
Good luck with ASE sign-ups this week, and thank you to the volunteers who make those classes happen. Thanks for reading, and for being part of this community.
Warmly,
Your Northeast PTA Board
