About the PTA

— Who we are

The PTA is a nonprofit made up of families, caregivers, and school staff working together to plan the things that enrich, celebrate, and strengthen our school community. Field day, the school garden, class celebrations, the assemblies and author visits -- if it fills the calendar, chances are a parent volunteer is behind it.

Northeast is one of several PTAs in town. We're part of the Montclair PTA Council (PTAC), which brings the district's PTAs together, and both we and PTAC are members of the New Jersey PTA.

What your membership pays for

Dues and fundraising go straight back into the building. Here's where it lands.

Experiences for the students

School-wide assemblies and visiting performers, after-school enrichment, field trips, Field Day, the GloBall, and the school musical.

Support for teachers and staff

Classroom grants for teachers, a hosted lunch every month, and last year's full staff lounge refresh -- paint, a new fridge, an AC unit, curtains, stocked shelves.

The school itself

The garden is the clearest example -- the seeds, soil, mulch, tools, and every plant in the ground came from the PTA, and four grades did the planting.

The things families show up for

Film on the Field, the Fun Run, the talent show, spirit week, and the kindergarten play dates and ice cream social -- plus the weekly newsletter and the PTA calendar.
