Reminder: Fill out your genesis forms before the end of this month!

Forms first, then schedules — complete your required Genesis forms so you can see teacher assignments, schedules, and bus stops when they're released in late August
— From Montclair Public Schools

Do your Genesis forms before the schedules drop.

Toward the end of August, the schools release the news everyone's waiting for: teacher assignments, student schedules, and bus stop locations and times. All of it shows up in Genesis — and only in Genesis. The district won't mail it home or read it to you over the phone.

Here's the catch: you can't see any of it until you've completed this year's required forms and documents for every child on your account. They're required every year, they're open now, and they only take a few minutes. Knock them out this week and you're all set for the big reveal.

Three steps and you're done

Everything happens inside your Genesis Parent Access account.

1. Log in and open the forms

Sign in to Genesis Parent Access. The 2026-27 required forms and documents are already waiting there. Some forms are marked optional — only fill those out if they apply to your family.

2. Complete and sign for every child

Every required form needs to be completed and signed for each child on your account — one finished kid isn't enough. Until then, your account stays limited to the Forms/Documents screen.

3. Check that you're actually done

You're done when the Student Summary screen comes back after login. If all you can see is the Forms/Documents screen, something's still missing — scroll to the bottom of the Documents page to find the outstanding form or signature.

— Older sibling in grades 6-12?
They have homework too.
Students in grades 6-12 must log in to their own Genesis Student Portal and electronically sign their required student documents. Your parent account stays locked until both of you have finished — so if your Northeast kiddo has a big sibling at Buzz, Glenfield, Renaissance, or MHS, hand them the Chromebook.
— Locked out? It happens every August.

Forgot your password?

Click "Forgot My Password" on the Genesis login page and enter the email address on your Parent Access account (for the Student Portal, use the student's school email). A temporary password lands in your inbox. Then, a few tips from the district that save real headaches:

  • Passwords are case-sensitive — type the temporary password exactly as written, and don't copy and paste it.
  • When you're asked for your "current password" while setting a new one, that means the temporary password from the email.
  • Seven wrong tries locks the account. If that happens, wait 20 minutes, then click "Forgot My Password" for a fresh temporary password. More tries before then just restart the clock.
