PTA Partnerships & Committees
The Northeast PTA collaborates with various organizations and committees to support our school community. Here's what these partnerships mean and how they benefit our students and families.
MFEE
Montclair Fund for Educational Excellence
MFEE has raised over $13 million to empower students, teachers, and the Montclair community with the goal of providing high-quality education for all students.
How PTA Helps:
Our MFEE liaison team helps teachers write grants for educational projects, professional development, and social/emotional programs.
SEPAC
Special Education Parent Advisory Council
SEPAC improves the educational experience for children in need of special education services and promotes inclusion with necessary supports.
PTA Representation:
We have 1-2 representatives who attend SEPAC meetings to ensure Northeast is sensitive to special education needs.
PTAC
PTA Council
A collective of all Montclair PTA presidents that supports school PTAs and makes parent voices more effective at the district level.
Monthly Participation:
Our PTA President meets monthly with PTAC and Dr. Ponds to address school issues collectively.
SATP
School Action Team for Partnerships
Mandated team of families, teachers, and community partners who review and inform the School Improvement Plan.
Focus Areas:
Curriculum, Achievement, Family Engagement, Professional Development, and Demographics/Procedures.
Current focus: Anti-racism and equity initiatives
Fifth Grade Committee
Graduation Fundraising Team
Dedicated group that fundraises specifically for fifth grade graduation events, trips, and celebrations.
Special Events:
Annual mum sale, 5th grade car wash, and concessions stands at events.
Teacher Toasts
MFEE Fundraising Events
Class parents host paid events to celebrate classroom teachers at private homes or event spaces.
Community Building:
Fun nights out for parents to celebrate and thank teachers while supporting MFEE.
Working Together for Success
These partnerships ensure Northeast students receive comprehensive support from academics to social-emotional development. Each collaboration strengthens our school community and amplifies parent voices in educational decisions.
How the PTA Works
Budget & Funding
The PTA board chooses how to raise and spend money through fundraising events and member dues. All financial decisions are made transparently.
Annual Process:
Early in the school year, there's an open PTA board meeting to discuss and vote on the annual budget. All PTA members are welcome to attend and participate.
Board Elections
Nominations and voting for the following year's board typically happens in June. All members can participate in the democratic process.
Who Can Participate:
Membership is open to all caregivers, parents, and teachers. Only current PTA members can vote in elections and budget decisions.
School Collaboration
The PTA works closely with school administration to identify needs and coordinate support for events and activities.
Regular Communication:
We have meetings with the principal every 1-2 weeks and coordinate calendars to ensure we can use school facilities appropriately.
Mrs. Pugliese is our key contact and supports parents daily
Teacher Partnerships
Teachers are welcomed as full PTA members and can participate in all events, volunteer for committees, and even chair committees.
Teacher Involvement:
Teachers can join at a reduced rate ($5) and work directly with class parents to coordinate in-class activities and build classroom community.
Capital Improvements
Beyond events, the PTA has funded major school improvements and provides ongoing support for student needs.
Past Contributions:
Air conditioning, 5th grade lockers, awnings and tents, picnic tables and benches, 4-square court painting, and confidential support for students in financial need.
Spending Priorities
The largest part of PTA spending goes to in-school events and assemblies that directly benefit students during school hours.
Funding Sources:
Gala, Spiritwear sales, Soccerthon, After School Enrichment (ASE), and the 5th grade committee's dedicated fundraising efforts.
What the PTA Doesn't Do
The PTA's goal is to build community and be welcoming. We are not responsible for curriculum or classes, and we don't get involved with educational content decisions.
Building Community Together
The PTA works as a bridge between families and the school, providing support where needed while respecting professional boundaries. Our focus remains on enriching the school experience and building lasting community connections.
